Low carb diet: The best way to eat to lose weight is to lower the carbohydrates in your diet. Carbohydrates are sweets and starches such as bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. Eat breakfast every day. Breakfast should be your largest meal, lunch should be smaller and dinner should be smallest meal of day. Limit calories to 1200-1500 per day with no more than 40grams of carbohydrates per meal.Good luck.

Slow and steady: To lose weight insure that calories burned > calories consumed. Drink at least 8 - 8 oz glasses of water /day. Try for 8 hrs of sleep/night. Aim for at least 5 servings of vegetables & 4 of fruit per day. Use whole grains. Avoid sodas, alcohol & junk carbohydrates. Get in a good mix of aerobic & weight lifting exercises.
