Traumatized vessel : Vigorous rubbing & blowing the nose, especially with seasonal allergies, dry mucus membranes or other conditions affecting membranes lining the nose can traumatize blood vessels in that area & cause bleeding. In your age range especially if you have high blood pressure, however, beware bleeding from vessels back of the nose (posterior epistaxis) which requires specialized packing. Helps?
