Yes: All meds have potential side effects. A few of the side effects that Cordarone (amiodarone) can cause include causing the thyroid to be overactive or underactive. It can also lead to pulmonary fibrosis, a potentially serious lung disease that can lead to permanent scarring of the lung. Cordarone (amiodarone) can cause severe slowing of the heart rate and rhythm, and it can also cause constipation.

A 47-year-old member asked:
How much time does it take for cordarone (amiodarone) to get of system?

Dr. Bennett Werner answered
Cardiology 44 years experience
Depends: It depends how much you were taking and how long you've been taking it. Assuming you're in steady state with a common dose like 200 mg a day, it will take 3-4 weeks for its clinical effect to wear off with levels detectable, if measured, for >6 months.

Not a good question: Difficult to answer a negative question.
Better question is : When should cordarone (amiodarone) be prescribed to patients: Cordarone (amiodarone) should only be given to people who need it and only under supervision of cardiologist or qualified internist
