Yes: You could have had a strain to the supporting ligaments around the TMJs with referred pain.

Yes: Yes, TMD can and does radiate to the surrounding of the muscles of head, neck and shoulders. See TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.

Yes, indeed: TMD can radiate into the neck and even the upper back, depending on a lot of variables. It sounds like your neck strap muscles are involved. TMD evaluation and possible therapeutic massage (maybe a bit gentler) may help..

TMD can be complex: TMJ pain syndrome may be the result of a single disorder or a combination of several factors, neck, face and headache. Due to the overlap of symptoms and diagnostic complexity, patients are often misdiagnosed. See Orofacial Pain specialist for diagnosis and treatment.

Absolutely: Here is an excellent source of basic information for you: http://www.tmj.org/site/content/tmd-basics What is important is that you seek care from health care professionals who have extensive experience and knowledge treating patients with TMD\TMJ. People who are not knowledgeable should not attempt to treat patients. You might want to let the individual who gave you the massage know what happened

Yes, TMJ dysfunction can be aggravated by untrained and uninformed “healers”. Far too many with little or no training, including many dentists, embark on courses of management before they even establish a “diagnosis”, and “TMJ” is NOT a diagnosis. The place to start an evaluation of TMJ dysfunction is with a trained specialist who manages TMJ disease. I'd suggest an oral surgeon who treats TMJ.

Waxs young, wanes old: Libido "waxes"(pre-menopausally) with lubrication and desire and "wanes" post-menopausally due to a decline of testosterone which comprises 2% of women's natural hormones. Some women never notice any changes in libido as the adrenal glands are the main sources of their testosterone rather than the declining ovary post-menopausally.
