having sharp pain on the back of my neck comes and goes spreads top both sides of my neck?

Dr. Shawn Dalton-bethea

Come & Go Neck Pain: What are you doing when the sharp pain attacks your neck? Bending your head forward? Tilting it back? Turning your head abruptly to one side or the other? Anything traveling into the base of your skull? If attacks are noted more with tilting your head back or turning your head to the sides, then your cervical facet joints might be intermittently getting irritated.
