during a heavy period can your iron levels get low? can this make you feel dizzy?

Iron deficiency: Yes and no. If the lady has low iron stores which is the case in 50% of young women then periods which if heavy can further stress the iron stores and contribute to further iron deficiency and anemia down the road . If some one has adequate iron stores then periods per se should not cause low iron levels . But anemia or iron deficiency is what I suspect here. Iron supplementation may be needed.
