Depends: It depends how long ago your last unprotected sexual encounter was, and how long before the test; if you got the test within just a couple weeks of the exposure, it may not have progressed enough to pop positive. Symptoms are usually just some discharge, which is difficult to detect in women sometimes; it may just be asymptomatic, but still infectious.
