Myocarditis is Rare.: Since it is an uncommonly-diagnosed disease, it's more rare that one will die of myocarditis. The incidence is not known since one could have mild involvement of the heart during a viral or autoimmune reaction without it being known. Chest pain, fever, palpitations and shortness of breath can occur. It can be diagnosed with an exam, EKG and blood tests. Heart failure is rare.
