Knee injury? : Popliteal pain & swelling result from knee joint inflammation. You can apply local ice 10-15 minutes for 2-3 times daily & see if that helps.
Dr. Ayisha Gani

Phlebitis: If it is really the swelling and burning are from the Popliteal vein it may be inflamed, take some anti inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen 600 mg three times a day and have it checked through your physician to rule out blood clot. Pain and swelling in the calf may be different causes also.
