can i trust a negative hpt with first morning urine 20 days after sex?

One week: It takes approx a week for a urine home pregnancy test to turn positive. Since sperm can survive up to five days, i.e., conception could occur up to 5 days after intercourse, you need to add that safety margin. This brings you to about 12 days. 20 days after intercourse the preg test should be positive if the woman conceived.
