Problems: The usual problem with stage IV lung cancer is post obstructive pneumonia, pneumosepsis. Antibiotics can help but there is a mechanical obstruction to the airways with the perfect setup for infection to occur. Infection can spill over to the better lung. Patients may succumb to pneumonia.
