Bruxism: Teeth grinding (bruxism) is common. Causes vary from sleep disorders, lifestyle and psychological factors; certain digestive issues, and/or underlying anxiety which accounts for about 70% cases. A night time teeth grinding mouth guard is a worthy investment and can be found at most pharmacies or on line. Good luck.

Possible Bruxism: Speak to your dentist about possible grinding at night and the fabrication of a night guard.

Get a night guard!: Hopefully, you are young enough and have not been grinding at night so much that too much damage to your enamel has been done. It is extremely possible that you will grind and grind for years, until your teeth change from that of a saber-tooth tiger to a cow (from sharp and pointy to flat dinner plates). You don't want this to happen, so get a night guard to protect your teeth against yourself!

Orthopedic Dentist: The cause of bruxism is rarely adequately treated. Most dentist make a bite appliance for you to wear to keep from grinding away the teeth. This is only treating the symptom and not the cause. The frequent cause is the roof of your mouth (palate) is too narrow in comparison to the lower jaw. The muscles not finding their home position keep searching = bruxism results.

Bruxism: Is a certain form of parafunctional habit that could have been present since childhood. It is also common to people suffering from sleep apnea, ear troubles, side effects from antidepressant, and sometimes it is unknown...See your dentist for a proper diagnosis and mouthguard splint.
