Release of an egg: There are several ways to tell if you are ovulating: over-the-counter ovulation detection kits (odk), ultrasound at mid cycle, Progesterone level approximately 7 days before you anticipate your period and/or an endometrial biopsy. Your gyn should be able to perform any of these and you can do the odk yourself.

Timing or kits: If you have regular menstrual cycles, ovulation occurs 14 days before your menstrual cycle starts. For people with 28 days cycles, the most common, ovulation is around day 14. If you have a shorter cycle (length between first day of bleeding to the first day of the next cycle). You can also use ovulation predictor kits (also called LH kits) to tell you exactly when you ovulate.
