doc said l ankle strain. doing ultrasound, shortwave diathermy, ankle exercises for 1 month. still pain. how long to recover? need to reduce walking?

Depends: The time until recovery will depend on the injury. In my experience, ankle injuries are often misdiagnosed and undertreated. I have seen a number of "ankle sprains" from the er that were actually fractures. If you aren't responding to treatment, get another opinion. Were x-rays and/or an MRI performed? Does the treating doctor see ankle injuries frequently? Did you follow treatment as recommended?

Orthotics should : Not cause long term problems they should do the opposite. I do not believe orthotics weaken muscles.
