It is possible: In treatment of a patient using Abilify (aripiprazole) there are many concerns and outcomes the patient and physician well want to have. Previous treatment and present problem may decide if long term injections are the medication of choice.

Abilify (aripiprazole): Intramuscular injections are available for agitation in bipolar patients, at average adult dose of 9.75 mg. (1.3 ml.). Also, Abilify (aripiprazole) maintena is recently approved intramuscular monthly injections.

Yes: Abilify (aripiprazole) mantana is available in 300 and 400 mg vials for once monthly gluteal in action. Serum levels with these injections are similar to serum levels for individuals on 10 to 20 mg daily of Abilify (aripiprazole) oral. So far in my experience the injection appears to be well tolerated and effective.

Abilify Maintena does not currently have the Bipolar indication from the FDA. It is currently approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adult patients.
