How long since : Surgery? If your toes overlap your 4th toe, you may need to followup with your surgeon. You may want to start taping the toes together to prevent drifting. You can also do physical therapy or stretching exercises for your toes.

See the surgeon: If you have floating toes after toe surgery you should see your foot surgery for follow up. Often after hammertoe correction or other types of toe or forefoot surgery there can be weakness and/or scar tissue that can cause the toes to float and deviate. Consider the use of a dynamic splint to stretch the scar tissue and work on strengthening the flexor muscles through physical therapy asap.
