could a fracture in an infants skull cause swelling and bleeding in the brain?

1 doctor answer
Dr. James Ferguson
45 years experience Pediatrics
Can co-exist: The skull is separated from the brain by a few tissue layers, & bleeding from the fracture can get between the skull and these layers and cause a problem called an epidural. Epidurals can become large & press on the brain. The event/trauma that caused the fracture can also cause tissue damage in the brain with bleeding & swelling.
