Direct connection: Thyroid is the largest endocrine gland which directly controls the metabolism through secreting hormones thyroxine which gets converted to T3 (liothyronine) in the peripheral tissues like breasts, ovaries, etc. So low thyroid function can cause a slow metabolism and result in fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, infertility, etc.

Profound connection: Your thyroid hormones have a profound effect on all functions in your body. Mild hypothyroid symptoms include: fatigue, sensitivity to cold, constipation, weight gain, high cholesterol, hair loss, muscle pain, depression, other hormonal problems, brain fog, edema, high blood sugar & many other symptoms. In the long term hypothyroidism can lead to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and even death.
