what could cause me to stop producing estrogen even though i've not had a hysterectomy & gyn says i'm not in menopause but has no idea why?

Several causes: If the ovaries fail prematurely it could be one cause. Has your gyn checked your pituitary gland? Your adrenals? Your liver? Have you gotten very thin? Theses are all areas i would suggest looking into.
