Effective: There are several types of laser surgery for glaucoma. The most popular is selective laser trabeculoplasty or SLT. This treatment is about as effective as the first-line drops for glaucoma. Generally, it is not used unless drops are not effective or are not tolerated. Generally, SLT is safe and effective about 85% of the time.
