hamstring injury out of nowhere. could it be from stretching?

Dr. Thomas Graber
Emergency Medicine 46 years experience
Could be: Stretching too much can cause muscle strains, but any time the cause is a mystery, i consider it may be something else. A muscle strain will hurt when you use it and heal over 1-2 weeks usually if you avoid anything that triggers your pain. Heat can help. If you don't avoid painful activities, it'll heal slowly if at all. If it doesn't over the long run behave like muscle strain, get checked.M.

Why does my calf hurt when I stand on my toes?

Dr. Eric Lullove
Podiatry 19 years experience
Tight Calf Muscles!: The reason your calf hurts is how tight the entire muscle group is. When you stand on your toes, the calf muscle contracts, and if it is tight, then you may have pain. Performing runners' stretches are very beneficial and should help reduce the pain. If it continues, seek medical treatment with a podiatrist.
