Well, actually: The normal state of things is an imbalance. The ovaries produce hormones when ovulating, that vary in amounts and result in a menstrual cycle. You may not be ovulating, thus told hormone imbalance. If so, consider trying metformin if it's pcos. Look up poly cystic ovarian syndrome and see if that fits you. Good luck, many people have this and there are treatments.

Various treatments: A person who thinks she has a hormonal imbalance can get evaluated by a primary care doctor to start with blood tests to check hormone levels. Treatments vary depending on which hormone is abnormal, such as hyperthyroid, hypothyroid, high dhea, high or low testosterone, abnormal LH or fsh, high prolactin, high insulin, etc... These conditions are from a variety of different diseases.

At least in a way: Yes, but it's like the horse and the cart: more likely an endocrine problem that makes you miss a period.

How do doctors treat a hormonal imbalance in you?

Different Ways: There is really no such thing as a hormone imbalance. There are many different hormones system in your body. So one of them needs to be functioning too much, too little, or in an unusual way to have an "imbalance." then you would treat the underlying problem.

Diagnose and treat: Diagnose and treat the underlying cause: thyroid disease is treated with thyroid medication, etc..There are no 'non-specific' hormonal imbalances.

Can you tell me some signs of a hormonal imbalance?

Hormonal imbalance: Is a lay term with no medical meaning. Which of your body's thousands of hormones do you mean? Each can produce a different set of problems. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet.
