my doctor as said the tastebuds at the back of my tongue should be ok as they are swollen but i am still concerned?

This is normal. : Taste buds contain the receptors for taste. They are located around the small structures on the upper surface of the tongue, soft palate, upper esophagus and epiglottis, which are called papillae. They can appear swollen and this is normal. No concerns.
