Depends: It depends on what the original problem was and what the current problem is.

PREVIOUS 3: I would like to know what the original problem was, and the subsequent surgeries. I would like to offer what some may view as too drastic/dramatic a solution. Depending upon which toe it is, would you consider a toe amputation? I've done it for select cases, and patients are generally satisfied. Good luck! Sincerely, Dr. Latva

Depends what : Procedure. Usually, you are given local anesthesia. If in hospital likely you get sedated as well. The procedures on toes are usually under an hour. Stitches and possible fixation. Like a pin or internal screw, again depending on the proble. A surgical shoe is worn for couple of weeks afterwards.

Ask your doctor: Follow his/her postoperative instructions and if you are not clear on what to do, call the office and ask for clarification. Each procedure has its own recovery time and process, and each surgeon has a preferred way of doing things.
