A 35-year-old member asked:

Can having a hairy tongue give my girlfriend urinary tract infection?

Probably not: Utis are caused by bacteria getting into the bladder and causing an infection. Anything that pushes bacteria into the bladder can start the infection. Hairy tongue by itself will not do so.

Hairy tongue gave my girlfriend urinary tract infection, what to do?

See doctor: Your girlfriend needs to see her doctor to get medication to treat the UTI and you should start brushing your tongue after brushing your teeth to disrupt the bacteria on the surface of the tongue.
