Yes: It is heavily sweetened and some children can get diarrhea. Generally that cough medicine doesn't work and cough "meds" should not be used.. Honey works as does Vicks vaporub.

Wrong Treatment: These types of medications should not be used in children under 6 years old due to possible serious side effects.Diarrhea is rare.
