Depends on state : Medication cost on medicaid vary state by state. Valtrex (valacyclovir) is covered in my state of texas. If not in ohio a similar drug called Acyclovir is available on the walmart $4 drug list.

Yes: Most medicaid plans cover generics. The generic of Valtrex (valacyclovir) is acyclovir. Some medicaid plans may have you pay a nominal fee for a drug.

What would happenif you take an expired valtrex (valacyclovir)?

Probably nothing: All medicines degrade with time. Just cause it expired doesn't mean its poisonous. Just won't work as well as unexpired medicine. Actually, it really depends on how old the medicine is. If its relatively soon after the expiration date, i'm sure its still good. All bets are off its over a year past.

Time: The lesions will go away by themselves and will take only slightly longer if not treated. By the way, the medicine you refer to makes the lesions only slightly less painful (if any at all) than no treatment at all.
A 39-year-old member asked:

What is Valtrex (valacyclovir) used for?

Valacyclovir: This is an antiviral compound effective against herpes simplex. It inhibits clinical symptoms, and prolongs the duration of time between outbreaks, but is not curative, since this organism, like squatters, roaches, and rats, cannot be gotten rid of.
