See below: A serm is a "selective estrogen receptor modulator." it work on cells that have receptors to estrogen - and may have qualities similar to estrogen. Evista, (raloxifene) for example, is a serm used to prevent menopausal bone loss.

See below: Serm stands for selective estrogen receptor modifer. In simple terms the drugs block estrogen effect in some tissues such as the breast. They act like estrogen in other tissues such as bone and the uterus.

Several: All of these drugs effect hormone balance so that menopausal complaints top the list such as hot flashes, weight gain etc. Muscle cramps, vaginal discharge, are more likely with serms. In premenopausal women irregular periods or loss of periods is likely. Blood clots and uterine cancers are rare problems with serms and not ai bone aches, joint pain, and bone loss are more common with ai.
