Depends: Persistent fluid behind the ear can cause temporary hearing dysfunction and sometimes lead to long term hearing problems if the fluid is thick and destroying the middle ear bones that conduct sound from the ear drum to the oval window at the inner ear junction. But fluid can be due to infection and allergies. See you doc and if needed, an ENT referral may be needed.
