Yes, perhaps: Both MRSA and shingles are associated with suppressed immunity. So yes, the occurrence of both in the same patient would suggest there may be an underlying immune deficiency.

It lives in nerves and becomes shingles when the body cannot suppress it enough to keep it dormant. Your mom may want to get the shingles vaccine after she completely heals.
