After quadruple cabg surgery, can the patient have caffeine (coffee or tea) once they are home from the hospital? thank you.

Yes: I often tell my patients that it is ok to drink coffee or tea in moderation. Obviously, this has to be individualized for each patient. A patient with a rapid heart rate may benefit by staying away from caffiene.

Decaf is better : It's better to limit caffeine intake by drinking decaf. Caffeine may increase heart rate and trigger arrhythmia.
