A 32-year-old male asked:
Can you explain cancer to me?

Pathology 44 years experience
In 400 letters: Our bodies are made of many cells, and things in the environment and dumb luck itself cause genes to mutate giving these cells an extra growth advantage over their neighbors. Eventually programs are reactivated enabling the cells to invade and spread. This is as well-established as the earth being round. Anyone who tells you something basically different about the nature of cancer is lying.
