my ankle is swollen and it hurts to walk on it. it didn't hurt this morning but now it hurts. what's wrong with it?

Need evaluation: Your ankle needs to be evaluated by a podiatrist with x-rays and clinical examination. You could have a arthritic ankle, cyst or overuse syndrome. You need to find out to prevent further damage.

Possibilities: Trauma/injury of some kind, gout, overuse, venous insufficiency or lymphedema which is creating pressure on ankle, infection are some. Ice and elevate. If problem persists, see podiatrist.
