See below: Risk factors are things that are linked to various diseases. Some are genetic - if your mother has breast cancer, you are at increased risk for getting it. Many are controllable: diet and diabetes, smoking and many diseases. Some are based on gender: women are at much higher risk of breast cancer and thyroidi. Some are racial: black men are at higher risk of prostate cancer than white men.
