I've gained 24 pounds in the last 8 months. i'm at an all time high on my weight. could this lead to health issues?

Yes: Gaining weight this rapid is not normal and most likely represents a decrease in activity, increase in caloric intake or a combination of the two. Certainly other things may factor in like medications or recent illness.
