There : There are generally two types of incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence is where you leak with coughing, sneezing or increased physical activity. Urge urinary incontinence is classically described as leakage associated with a feeling of urinary urgency.
Physical therapy and behavioral modifications are first line treatments for both. Medications are also available for both types of incontinence. There are surgical interventions that work for both. These include sling procedures and implantation of something called interstim. I would recommend you make an appointment with a urologist who treats these types of issues.

Depends: On the cause of incontinence. Surgery is not the answer for every kind of urine leakage. A urologist or urogynecologist can help sort things out.
