Probabl Inflammation: Inflammation (irritation) of the colon manifests with mucus formation among other symptoms. It may be related to infection or other causes. Only 4 days in not worrisome. However, if lasts, i would see a gastroentrologist for an opinion. Persons at age 50, should have routine colonoscopy for early detection of possible colon cancer. It will also rule out possible inflammatory bowel disease, others.
