Hi. : Hi. Thank you for this question. The Prednisolone will help calm down any inflammation, but since his cough is still continuing, i would recommend seeing your doctor to see if he is wheezing. This is especially important if he has ever had a history of wheezing in the past (or if there is a family history of asthma, allergies, or eczema). If your doctor hears wheezing, there are medicines (albuterol, xopenex) that can help with the cough. Also, if your doctor diagnoses a pneumonia, he or she may wish to change the antibiotics. Finally, consider if other things could be causing the cough - such as seasonal allergies or exposure to smoke, i do not recommend cough and cold medicines for children under the age of 6 years. They have not been shown to work, and some children can have serious side effects - even death! you can try a teaspoon of honey, since he is older than one year of age. You can also try a humidifier or a steamy bathroom. It's also important to keep him well hydrated - encourage lots of fluids. See http://www.Healthychildren.Org/english/health-issues/conditions/ear-nose-throat/pages/coughs-and-colds-medicines-or-home-remedies.Aspx for more advice. I hope this helps! good luck - and keep yourself healthy too.

See below: When treated? The Prednisolone will last a day, so if treated only once, child may need more. Amoxicillin will not treat almost all croup since it is almost always viral. If problems breathing, get seen.
