Depends on view: I see no direct effect of chew tobacco to children nearby. However, there is a behavioral effect later in life. If someone prized to a childs life demonstrates joy in a toxic habit, they are much more likely to take up the habit when they get older.

Yes. : Yes, because it models poor health choices for them. It doesn't necessarily harm them like second hand smoke, but it sets a horrible example.
