Yes, : Yes, getting adequate calcium and vitamin d are essential to maintaining good bone strength. At least 1200mg of calcium and 800 international units of vitamin d3 are helpful to maintain bone density. This can be from your diet (milk and some orange juices are fortified with both, as are some cereals, and other products). Also, weight bearing exercise (walking, jogging, elliptical, etc.) help maintain bone density and is a treatment for osteopenia/osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis basics: You must do 3 things to avoid osteoporosis: eat enough ca (usually 1000 - 1200mg/day) absorb it into your blood which requires vit d (600 - 800iu/day) get the calcium from your blood to the bone which requires 30 - 60 minutes of weight bearing exercise each day. Many things folks do are bad for the bones: smoking, excess alcohol, many drugs.

See below: Don't use just your back. Bend at the knee and hips, when you are helping the person stand. That will allow you to take the strain off of your back.

How can I cure/get rid of tinea versicolor...Have used selsun blue...Taken perscribed pills by dermatologists...Nothing works..Help!?

Persistence: Tinea versicolor takes time to clear & often recurs. Perhaps prescription strength selenium sulfide lotion (2.5%) applied for 10 minutes daily for 7 days will work better than otc selsun blue (due to higher concentration of active ingredient). Washing clothing , bedding, bath linens (or perhaps using an ultraviolet wand) to destroy the fungus will speed recovery.
