Longer the better: While i would love to see you quit, i know it's not that easy! the longer you can hold out, the better you will heal. If you had stitches in your arm, you wouldn't blow smoke in them, right? I recommend at least 2-3 days. More, if possible for the bloodclot to mature and seal the wound. Best of luck!

A week: Once closure and secondary healing (soft-tissue growth covering the bone) has occurred, there is less risk that smoking will noticeably affect your healing progress. If the socket is still exposed (during the first few days post-op), smoking could possible affect the blood clot and/or irritate the bone potentially causing noticeable pain.

Hopefully forever: At least 24 hours. If you can go longer that would be better to promote healing. Smoking compromises your immune system. It is like your body is constantly fighting off an attacker then you tax the system again with tooth removal and healing. Good luck. Quitting smoking can be difficult but the payoff is huge.

Never?: Smoking dries the mouth tissues and promotes infection. If you really must smoke, wait at least 1 week for the skin to heal.

How long after getting my wisdom teeth removed should I wait before going out drinking?

After finishing meds: Often times painkillers and antibiotics are prescribed when wisdom teeth are extracted. It is not safe to drink alcohol while on these medications because of the interactions of these.
It is however critical to not drink any alcohol in the first 24 hours of getting your teeth extracted.
