Dr. Richard Orr answered
Surgical Oncology 44 years experience
Varies: Usually about the same as a general surgeon but may be less if the doc is exclusively a breast surgeon (but those folks do not usually do emergencies, work nights, weekends.. So it may be a fair trade-off.) a lot less than neurosurgeons, orthopedists and cardiologists.

Not the right place: If you want to find the right breast surgeon, for your family member's care, you have to make some personal enquireies about any surgeon like the following. 1) some one you know treated by that surgeon, is the best reference. 2) your family physician whom you trust, will advise you. 3) qualifications like board certified , had teaching experence etc 4) finally should consult , and decide

BreastCancer Surgeon: Breast surgeons are usually general surgeons who specialize in the screening, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of breast cancer. Stated another way, we are the doctors who primary care physicians or gynecologists send their patients to who have breast lumps, abnormal mammograms, breast pain, etc. While there are post-residency fellowships available, there is no formal board certification.
