Not effective: Reiki therapy has been shown to provide short term pain relief for patients with cancer pain, but it has not been studied for chronic pain.

Try it: There is no specific answer as it depends what is causing your chronic pain. My advise to patients is that if the therapy is not harmful, it is worth a try. So, i recommend you try it and see if it helps.

? Ehlers-Danlos Syn.: The most common pain associated with eds comes from the fact that the connective tissue supporting the joints becomes lax and allows chronic joint dislocations. These people frequently notice they are "double-jointed" but later experience the chronic dislocations. A more serious kind involves blood vessels where they can spontaneously rupture. Eds can also be a limited to the skin.

How are opioids used to manage chronic pain
2 doctor answers • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Alfredo Nievesanswered
Gynecology 40 years experience
Pain management: Opiods should be used with caution after evaluating the patient and screening for potential addictive personality. Some type of pain, neuropathic for example, do not respond well to opioids. Long acting opioids seem to maintain blood levels better than short acting avoiding peaks and valleys that limit pain control.
