Takes time: A fractured bone takes 6-8 weeks to heal. You can make sure it heals properly by splinting the broken toe to the next one. You should also get an x-ray of your foot to make sure the fracture is in good position.

Probable referral: An xray will be able to tell 'the seriousness of the fracture' such as displacement or comminution. Displacement is when the bones are 'shifted' and less likely to heal. Communition is when there are 'extra fragments' . An orthopedic doctor will be called and follow-up arranged depending upon the seriousness.
