2 times a night i wake up with a numb hand and tingling fingers, unless i sleep totally still on my back (impossible). doc shoves it off. ideas?

Nerve compression: It sounds like you are getting a pinched nerve, either in your hand (carpal tunnel syndrome) or in your neck. This can be diagnosed with a nerve test called an emg. Either one should be treatable. In the meantime, you can try a different pillow and see if that helps.
