my 8 yr old daughter has had a fever for 7 days. strep, flu, and mono all negative. doc says just virus. second opinion?

It happens: Some viruses can cause a lingering fever. It seems you have looked for common treatable issues which is good. If the kid is taking fluids & feeding well, resuming some play activities and free from specific complaints you can wait it out. If there seems to be a downturn of activities/feeds/etc. it is time for a re-visit. Secondary infections can arise as a kid enters the recovery phase.

Mgt: Mono, pneumonia, a urinary infection are other possible causes. I would also suggest seeing your PCP to rule out appendicitis.
