Upperbody...: You may want to avoid lower body workouts while you heal. If your ankle sprain is being treated non-operatively it is important that it be maintained immobilized in a cast or similar device. Ask the orthopaedic surgeon taking care of you. Strengthening : Using a resistance band around your forefoot, hold the ends of the band with your hand and gently push your ankle down as far as you can and then back to the starting position. Repeat 10 times. For proprioeptive exercises, balance, coordination and agility stand with your affected leg on a pillow. Hold this position for a count of 10. Repeat 10 times.

Yes: Anterior( usually) tbiofibular ankle spains ( high ankle sprains ) are particularly common in football . ( see my previous answer on this type of ankle sprain). They are less common than your 'typical' ankle sprain( anterior talofiblular sprain) and can take longer to heal! see an orthopedic surgeon to evaluate and treat this type of ankle sprain!good luck!

It Depends: There are differing opinions with this subject. But a high ankle sprain needs to be immobilized, usually in a boot, sometimes walking and others using crutches to start with. The recovery time is usually longer than a standard ankle sprain. On occasion if there is a major tear of the ligament, surgery can be needed to fix it.
