How to relieve the hot burn from peppermint oil? my husband has swelling in the back of his neck i used peppermint oil mixed with lavender oil.

Cold pack may help: I would use a bit of soap and cool water to wipe off the oil, then use a cold pack (ice in plastic bag and wrapped in thin towel will do also) will help. The peppermint will "burn itself out" in about 1-2 hours (must wipe off the oil). Hope this will help. If not better, call doc for eval. Good luck.

Essential Oils: Agree with Dr. Nguyen. Completely removing the peppermint & lavender oils is important. Did you use pure essential oils directly on the skin? Essential oils are usually diluted with carrier oils. Essential oils are very concentrated. Normally they are diluted to make up 0.5% to 2% of blend.
