Antiparietal cell: Not all B12 deficiency is due to pernicious anemia-autoimmune disease, antiparietal cell and antiintrinsic factor antibodies. Other rtests may be needed to check for, e.g. H pylori infection.
Dr. Jon Fishburn
Ophthalmology 30 years experience
Pernicious anemia: Yes your doctor can run a battery of tests including a cbc, peripheral blood smear, a serum b 12 level, and a reticulocyte count. These usually will help to diagnose the condition. Sometimes methylmalonic acid and homocysteine levels will be drawn to help with the diagnosis.
Dr. Gurmukh Singh
Pathology 49 years experience
Auto-antiboidies to stomach are a consistent feature of classical pernicious anemia, in addition tot the tests mentioned by Dr. Fishburn.
