Some ideas: Topical Vicks vapor rub, tea tree oil, as well as over the counter anti-fungal medication.

A few: However I do not believe these measures to be able to cure nail fungus, patients have reported some improvement in the appearance of the nail if used over a large period of time: vick's vaporub listerine mouthwash tea tree oil a podiatrist can offer better treatment options, but if you want to give them a try there is little chance of harm and do not cost that much.

Several treatments.: The reason you hear so many different treatments for toenail fungus is because there is no perfect, sure-fire treatment that works 100% of the time. I've seen vaporub work, as well as other natural oil remedies, but very rarely. You can also try laser therapy, antifungal creams, paints, or even oral medications if your doctor deems you healthy enough to take them.

Try tea tree: Try tea tree oil 1-2 x daily under the nail. Most of the time, topical medications don't work nearly as well as oral rx meds for nail fungus. Tea tree has shown to help clear fungal infections, but many people develop irritant dermatitis from it. You can also look for urea cream otc which will soften the nail. Expect 1 mm per month normal nail growth. If 1 nail only, may have tumor mimicking.

Keep in mind...: The fda has recently come out with a blanket statement that toenail fungus can not be cured. It is "managed" by a number of modalities, but it can always come back in the future. Oral antifungal medicines (lamisil), topical medications (formula 3), laser therapy, surgical removal, homeopathic applications (tea tree oil). Talk to a podiatrist for what will be best and most effective for you.

No real good : Topical. I still think oral med are the best with laser therapy running second and topical remedies running way behind the two front runners.
